Web Business by Ken Burbary: Please Help Us Help The Loveless Family

  • Albert_Maruggi · 1 month ago
Ken, just a quick comment and I hope it's not taken in a way I don't intend, nonetheless I have to state it here because you raise the issue "I don't have anything to offer back other. Zero, Zilch. Not top donor list or fancy recognition."

That's OK, in fact even better. (not a lecture folks just a comment) This whole social thing in relation to helping should be its own reward. Sure it can easily be turned into some self-aggrandizing contest, the church basket passed around and someone drops a $50 spot in type thing.

At times people can give, others they can't, and when the latter happens they shouldn't be thrown into the guilty bin of fund raising campaigns.

Your actions come from the heart and I'm hoping that's the place where most of socialness on the web lies. I'm not naive about human nature and realize all people at some point are motivated by "what's in it for me." However, I have equal hope that these acts of humanity show what is possible when we forget about "where we rank" and think about "how can I help"

Well said Albert, and I couldn't agree more. It's important to remember the amazing things that are possible when we set those things aside. I'm been reminded of it all night as incredible responses of support for Jamie come in.
  • Danny Brown · 1 month ago
Good luck with this Ken - incredible way to show your love for a family that obviously mean a lot to you. Best wishes to Jamie in her battle back to (hopefully) full health.

I'd love to help financially, but we're in our own recently unemployed/suddenly struck down with major infection & surgery/months of IV meds & therapy crisis here. Instead, I'll be sending tons of positive thoughts for the Loveless family.
  • Ken Burbary · 1 month ago
Help comes in many forms, and positive thoughts are much needed too. Thank you Sonya
  • bethharte · 1 month ago
Ken, you are giving back!! This isn't about 'zilch,' just like Albert said. If we can't tap into our networks once in a while for something that IS important (other than branding, marketing, networking, etc.), what's the point at the end of the day?

My heart goes out to the Loveless family while they make it through this ordeal. And you have the ability to help them through all of your friends, colleagues and networks. That's what matters most. :)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Ken, it's important.
  • Ken Burbary · 1 month ago
Thank you for the kind words and support Beth. I sincerely appreciate it and we won't forget it.
  • MightyMouth · 1 month ago
Ken, I'm really happy to see this is already over $2K. Best of wishes for Jamie and her family. Please keep us updated on how she's doing.

And regarding your comment about having nothing to give back - dude, we're getting something HUGE back. A human connection, a way to reach out to someone and provide some tender mercies in a time of deep fear. Nothing tops that.

    Hi

I was all ready to make a contribution, but your paypal account doesn't accept credit card payments, it tried to force me to open a paypal account and pay from there.

While I am happy to help, I do not need or want a paypal account. If you could upgrade your paypal account from personal to merchant - this is a free upgrade if I remember correctly - you will be able to accept genuine credit card payments.
  • Ken Burbary · 1 month ago
Andreas, thanks for pointing that out. I had no idea that you could upgrade for free. I just upgraded to a premier account so it should work now. .

Best of luck with your efforts, Ken. Dave Armano's plea to help Daniela is one of the most amazing stories I've ever heard about social media and the kindness of people. Great to see others taking steps to help each other. We've got your back.

I will forward donation. Plus will keep it going with any re-orders. Spread the word so that people can help when they buy things that they already buy for their home or family.

I want to help. I am sending prayers. Is there any "more reputable source" on this story I can direct my husband to so he can feel secure this is legit? I don't mean any disrespect. He is very (rightfully, in many ways) cautious and wants to know more about the situation before sending funds.

    http://thelovelessfamily.weebly.com/

This is another website dedicated to Jamie and her family. They are posting updates as frequently as possible. I went to high school with Jamie and her husband Chris. I can assure you. This is absolutely legit!
  • Ken Burbary · 1 month ago
Selene - Understandable. Here is a link to a news article that provides more detail about Jamie's situation. Sadly, I can assure you that it IS legit!

    Ken,

Thanks for sharing this story. I've done what I can to contribute and pass the word. Let's hope people don't stop at $5k. We all know it's going to take more than that.

    Keep us posted.

Very happy to contribute and please don't worry for one second about "not having anything" to reciprocate. It means a lot to me and I know to others that we can help.

Thank you so much for doing this. It makes me angry that it even has to be done. Looking at that mommy and her little baby made me wish I could give SO much more. I hope she is better soon. Much love to you and their whole family.

This is so heartwarming! :) You say you have nothing to offer, but seeing everyone come together to help a stranger like this really renews my faith in humanity (and believe me, it's been a little low lately!) So thank you.

    Ken,
Thank you for sharing this story and showing your love and compassion for a family in need. I hope you do realize that you have given back, more than rewards and accolades can provide. You have given hope to all people who hear about this demonstration of love and generosity from a community of strangers.

  • scottmonty · 1 month ago
Ken, I'm very sorry to hear that. Your efforts are still to be commended, and hopefully the family can use the funds raised for funeral expenses and other purposes as they struggle through this terrible and difficult time.

No family should have to go through this; thanks to you and the support of your community, they'll be spared just a little bit of the associated pain and difficulty.

Hi, we are the Friedman Family from Woodland Hills, CA. We just sold the house in Nolansville, TN to Jamie and her husband -- we had never met Jamie and Chris in person but had dealt with them through realtors. We are devastated at the news of her passing...what a tragedy! But knowing Serena the realtor we realize just how kind and wonderful the people of the new neighborhood are and how they have come together to help Chris and the baby. Everyone we've ever worked with there -- Serena, Carole and many others -- are just the most pleasant and lovely people. We know that you will take tremendous care of this good man and his sweet baby. It's just the shattering of The American Dream. We wish you all condolences and the very best in getting through this very difficult time.
